<p>We have owned our handsome thoroughbred gelding Blueberry Rhyme for over five years. Blue an ex-racehorse on the flat has brought much happiness into our lives and inspired by the many challenges and indeed accomplishments of Blue I am happy to support the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre for all the hard work they do for these beautiful animals. They are dedicated to the rescue, rehabiliation and re-homing of ex-racehorses, particularly those that have fallen on hard times. &nbsp;Each year thousands of horses leave racing, some because they reach the natural end of their career, others through injury, old age or lack of ability. &nbsp; Some of these horses go straight to the centre from training and others from post racing private homes. Those from private homes have often been purchased cheaply by well meaning but inexperienced individuals who are unable to handle or care for these horses. &nbsp;The TRC provides a secure, safe future for racehorses. &nbsp;All new arrivals are given time to relax and adjust to their new environment. &nbsp;They are assessed by a team of professionals before beginning ridden work. Each horse is given a training plan to make sure it is ready to be re-homed as soon as possible. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>The TRC spends as long as it takes on each horse, weeks for some, months for others. &nbsp;there is a detailed application process for anyone that wants to take a TRC horse to ensure that the right loaner is matched to each horse. &nbsp;Ideally the loaner takes the horse for the rest of its life but if it does not work out the horse returns to the TRC and in most cases another loaner is found for the horse. &nbsp;In all cases the horse remains the property of the TRC and is visited regularly by our field officers. &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>THERE IS ALWAYS AN URGENT LIST OF HORSES NEEDING HELP FROM THE THOROUGHBRED REHABILITATION CENTRE&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>WITH YOUR SUPPORT WE CAN GIVE EX-RACEHORSES A NEW LIFE AND PURPOSE.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.</p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
