My name is Denise, I'm thirty nine years old, and according to doctors I wasn't expected to live past two. This is because I have a muscle wasting disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy, just like the children from New Malden, who died last week. I have noticed a lot of negative publicity linked to this case, about the condition, and I wanted to make people realise that having SMA does not have to mean no quality of life. Yes, some of us will sadly never be able to sit, stand, and have breathing and swallowing difficulties which can lead to being taken from the world too soon. However, despite some of the complexities of SMA, many of us lead a successful, happy, long lives. We have aspirations and hopes for the future, just like you!!!

On Wednesday the 21st of May, 2014, at Sywell Aerodrome, UK.  I want to fly high remember all those who have died from SMA, and also celebrate those of us who continue to live on and enjoy every minute that life has to offer. Please donate and share my story.
