Story

Derby is hosting an amazing under 18s Beauty Pageant for girls aged 7-17 on Sunday 17th November 2013. With live performances and a great show from young talented children, all proceeds will be donated to www.WhenYouWishUponAStar.org.uk to help contribute in sending a child to Lapland for Christmas.

When You Wish Upon A Star is a small charity whose primary aim is to grant the wishes of children suffering from life threatening illnesses. Since the charity started in 1990, they have granted over 14.500 wishes for some very brave and courageous children and their families. All children have wishes, but for those children and their families, that wish is much more precious. Wishes are varied and far reaching. For some a trip to Disneyland Florida or Paris to meet their favourite characters, for some, it is a chance to get up close to a favourite pop star or sporting hero whilst some children simply want toys and books.

Whatever the wish, wherever possible the charity will aim to make that wish a reality.

The charity relies solely on fundraising events and the generosity of the public to enable them to grant these wishes.

Our event, at The Spot, Wilson Street West, Derby on 17th November is something different and exciting that will get children involved in fundraising. Each and every one of us are doing our bit to raise funds to help us reach our target of £900.

It costs £900 for one child to go to Lapland. We are hoping to raise enough money to help at least one child. Our event is a fund raising event but not only that, we would also like to help all of our young contestants to gain confidence and teach them how to make the most out of their individual personalities whilst doing something great for charity.

We would really appreciate some help from the public, local companies and businesses to help us make this event as successful as possible.

With lots to consider, such as venue, rehearsals, costumes and advertising costs, we would really appreciate any support you could offer.

Our Auditions were held at Nadia Jane School of Dance on Sunday 01st September 2013. For our final 21 contestants, we would like to reward them with prizes and gifts for their efforts.  We also have our family raffle that would also help to raise a little bit more for the charity. A few examples of what we would like are gift vouchers, sporting activities, days out, family meals, health and beauty services, anything fun and relevant to the pageant and fitting for a girl aged 7-17.

If you would like to help us make this event as successful as possible, please make a donation below. We really appreciate your consideration and hope you are able to support our event.
