Important Update - Cycle abandoned due to unforeseen medical circumstances
Hi my name is Derek Smith and in June 2010 I set off on a fundraising cycle around the UK in partnership with my employer UPS. The goal is to raise £10,000 for Cash for Kids and Help for Heroes. Unfortunately on day 6 I had to abandon my cycle ride with medical advice due to possible chronic Osteomyelitis which is a bone infection. This stems back to a 14 year old injury which has been dormant for the last 10 years. I completed 526 miles of my ride in 5 days and 3 hours of cycling which was on plan, I am very saddened that I was not able to continue and appreciate the support and understanding of those involved.
