This page has been set up to raise money for Thames Hospice Care in memory of our amazing husband, dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa & friend Derek Wilkins.
Derek spent his final days with his family in the care of the nurses at Thames Hospice in Windsor. An amazing group of people who did everything possible to look after him. It costs £570 a day to care for an in-patient at Windsor.
Derek sadly lost his battle with cancer on September 14th 2009. In our grief & to celebrate his life we all decided to raise the money it had cost for his stay so that someone elses family could receive the same support in the future.
And so you will see a number of events happening over the next few months & years until 'Team Ginger' reach our target of £7400. Wherever possible we'll be sporting ginger wigs in his memory so watch out for picture updates!
NEXT: Santa jog Nov 28th 2010 - Team ginger wil be out in force this year as we have a team of 10 running around a forest dressed as Santa. Last year was muddy & wet but great fun & we hope to raise lots more money to get us close to target.
So far we've raised:
Race for Life 2010 - The ginger wigs were out again as the Emma, Heidi, Liz, Chloe & Carolyn jogged 5km around Windsor racecouse as part of the Race for life
Santa jog - Mawgan, Jon & Emma ran 5km through Swinley Forest dressed as Father Christmas! We were the highest fundraising team at the event so thank you all!!!
Sunrise walk - Liz, Sara, Sue, Freya & Emma did the 6.5 mile Sunrise Walk in October - see photo!! Raised £600
Boundary walk - Brian & Sajan completed the 13 mile walk around Maindenhead & raised over £400
Collection - a big thank you to everyone who gave money at the funeral. £1190 has been sent directly to he hospice already.
We've still got a long way to go so dig deep & donate now to help us achieve our goal.
