For those of you who are hearing this for the first time, we are very sad to say that Derick Hawkins (Derick/Dad/Grandpa) died unexpectedly on Sunday 21 February 2010 from septicaemia (blood infection), most likely secondary to a urinary infection.  We miss him so much, but know he is with Jesus and without any pain now.
 
If you would like to make a donation in memory of Derick, given that Derick had a heart for needy children, schools and Kids Alive, the collection will be given in support of the Centro Educativo Cristiano School in Columbia.

Below is a little bit about the project

Our 200 Children at the Centro Educativo Cristiano School are being taught in cramped conditions and some classes are held in the shade of the trees. There are insufficient toilet and washing facilities and they desperately need a kitchen and dining area. However, new facilities that would meet our needs have become available and with the addition of two classrooms, modernisation of toilets and washrooms, we will have a wonderful new school for the appreciative and deserving children of the Centro Educativo Cristiano School in the province of Magdelena. 

 

Just £6,300 will purchase the new buildings and the whole project could be completed for £10,700. This facility is urgently needed in order to improve the education and health of the children of the remote village of Guacamayal.
