The Big Ride will be the experience of a lifetime for the hundreds of cyclists that participate as we cycle over 9 days from capital city to capital city, raising awareness of the suffering that Palestinian people have been enduring for decades. It is a great opportunity, through camaraderie and pedal power, to support an urgent humanitarian cause. The ride will raise funds for the
Middle East
Children's Alliance (MECA).
Israel’s ongoing military control and assaults deprive Palestinian children of so many of the basic things every child needs, including the most basic thing of all: Water. Through the Maia water project MECA has installed state-of-the-art water desalination and purification units for 68,000 children who can now drink clean water at their schools every day.
Other MECA projects include providing safe places for Palestinian children to play in refugee camps and villages, and the 'Let the children play and heal' which addresses the psychological needs of traumatised children.
MECA have been providing help on the ground for children in Gaza for 25 years. Their knowledge and expertise ensures that funds raised will be directed in the best possible way to support the Palestinian children.
