It's all about friendship: helping women in their journey towards ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order. We are a Buddhist community living together, running retreats and supporting each individual in the deepening of their Buddhist practice.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We're raising money for the Tiratanaloka bursary, to help women train for ordination into the Western Buddhist Order by coming on retreat to study here.  The retreat centre is self-funding - we don't receive any outside or central assistance - and at present we're just about breaking even so it's not possible for us to fund places on retreats ourselves.

However last year, thanks to generous donations by supporters,  we were able to give over £3000 to help 21 women with their retreat costs.  Who knows what effect it will have on the world in the long run!  Talking of long runs(!) some of us thought we'd combine our wish to get fit with raising a bit of money, hence this web page.  You can be assured we'll all be putting in some sweat to get to the end of that 10k on 27th September.

"Run like hell and get the agony over with"
--Clarence DeMar

" Not sure I will be able to run like hell but will expect the agony,  and also the exhilaration  that will come  with finishing.  I have been doing a bit of training  over the last few weeks  and feel that by the time the big day rolls around  I will be ready.  In order to show commitment to this running lark  I took part in a 5.6km  at the beginning of July .It may have taken 42 mins but I did finish, and I have to say I felt very proud of my achievement and it really fired me up to do a better time in the 10km .  Fingers crossed :)"
