ING New York City Marathon 2009 · 1 November 2009 ·
Hello and thank you so much for visiting our page...
...Caroline and I decided to do the New York Marathon because it was a long life ambition for both of us and we were thrilled to get the places. We are now training very hard for this event, although we are not aiming for a particular time we both have a goal to run it all and to fully enjoy it!
Another reason behind our drive is the loving memory of a number of very dear people to us. Although they all past away from various illnesses, we chose to raise the money for the Butterwick Hospice because we believe it provides an extraordinary support and care to the families in need. The other reason for chosing this charity was in memory of a friend, Judy Griffiths, who tragically lost her life on 4th April 2009 at the early age of 35.
We feel very stronghly about supporting wonderful local Hospice, such as Butterwick and together with Judy's husband Martin, her friends and family, we want to raise money to buy some specialised equipment which will help Butterwick to continue providing excellent care and support to all families in this area that will benefit from such care.
'During Judy's last weeks of pain and suffering, the Nurses and Doctors at the Butterwick Hospice valiantly gave Judy 24 hours a day care to make her as comfortable as possible. The personal and sensitive treatment afforded to Judy during this time was exceptional - as was the care and attention given to me and our 5 month old son Samuel as we stayed by Judy's bedside.' Please read more about Judy's story: http://www.justgiving.com/judygriffiths/
'The compassionate care demonstrated by the Butterwick Hospice is completely free of charge. In Judy's memory, friends and family have committed to raise funds through a variety of events that will allow the hospice to purchase equipment that will benefit other families cared for by the hospice'. There is absolutely no pressure on the amount you can donate, if any, every pound will count and would make a huge difference to the care that the Hospice provide to all families. Every donation is highly appreciated and we are thanking you in advance for supporting us!
Donating through Justgiving is easy and completely secure. It is also very efficient as Butterwick Hospice Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure that 25% (Gift Aid) + 3% (supplement) are added to your donation.
Thank you very much for reading our story and for your support!
