Story

All money raised are donated to local children's causes.

The trustees of the Sarah Groves Foundation are delighted to announce that they have pledged the sum of £50,000 in support of an exciting redevelopment programme for the Children’s Library at the Guille-Allès Library in St Peter Port. The Foundation will be funding the larger of the two rooms, which will be known as “The Sarah Groves Room''.

Beginning of September I am going to cycle 750 miles from St Malo to Amsterdam in 9 days, to raise funds for the Sarah Groves Foundation. This will be hardest physical and mental challenge i ever have done. I need to raise a minimum of £2000 to participate and I hope you can help me achieve this.

So what is the Sarah Groves Foundation?

On 6 April 2013 Sarah Groves was tragically murdered on a houseboat in Kashmir. The devastation and grief caused by this inexplicable event have been indescribable. Hundreds, if not thousands of people have been affected emotionally and some are receiving counseling as a direct result.

Due to Sarah's insatiable love of life, however, together with her desire to make a change in the world, and her determination to help as many people as she could, the Sarah Groves Foundation has been set up in Guernsey as a Charitable Trust. It is focusing on Sarah's inspirations and aspirations, which came from art, children, adventure, and fitness. This fund will continue Sarah's legacy, which is all about love, helping others, and achieving one's dreams. To read more about the Foundation and to see where the money will be spent, please visit www.sarahgroves.org.

Under the category of “fitness”, a 750-mile bike ride between Guernsey – Amsterdam – Guernsey will be supported by the Foundation in order to raise funds to support its overall aims.

The 2018 Tour De Sez will take place in September. It will last for 9 days and will comprise 100 amazing like-minded individuals cycling to Amsterdam before returning to Guernsey. This will be undertaken with full support facilities throughout.

Participants are going to put themselves through this incredible challenge in order to raise as much money as possible for The Sarah Groves Foundation. We are not an elite group of cyclists, far from it, but we are as a collective incredibly motivated and together will ride between Guernsey – Amsterdam - Guernsey. We as a team are going to do something never attempted from these shores before, but we all have an incredible motivation to make this challenge become a reality and for ourselves to live a life less ordinary, just like Sarah.

You can support my own personal efforts to reach my target by making a donation via this JustGiving page. No donation will be considered too small and, of course, none will be considered too large and it is incredibly easy to do! You may remain anonymous and you can hide the actual amount you donate – that’s entirely your choice. You can also donate in pounds, dollars or euros.

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They will also make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation from the relevant tax authorities. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.

Thank you very much for your support.
