Story

The feminist academic and activist Diana Leonard sadly died last year aged 68 of endometrial cancer. Diana inspired students and colleagues from around the world. She did so primarily through the Centre for Research on Education and Gender (CREG), which she established at the Institute of Education, University of London, in 1984: it explored the lives of girls and women across all phases of education, and such issues as single-sex versus mixed schooling, bullying in schools and academia, and the conditions for undertaking doctorates.

Diana has left a lasting legacy in establishing the Diana Leonard Centenary Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to an international student who has demonstrated academic excellence and has the desire and passion to improve education worldwide.
