Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm taking part in The White Horse Challenge - a 55 m walk over two days on June 19 and 20.
The Mathieson Music Trust supports orphaned and abandoned children in Kolkata. The school at which I am chair of governors - Holy Trinity, Great Cheverell - is twinned with the orphanage and recently the school's founder brought some of the orphans who had graduated in music and dance to our school to give a performance.
It was profoundly powerful on so many levels - the music was fantastic, we felt so blessed having the opportunity to enjoy a performance of that quality at our little rural school; Anup, the Orphanage principle was inspirational with his enthusiasm and commitment; and the performers showed how all children, given the right opportunities, can be inspired by music and dance and share joy around the world whilst improving their own opportunities.
I felt moved to support Anup's work at the orphange, the current project underway is building a Girls dorm to give abandoned and orphaned girls a place to live whilst being educated generally and particularly in music.
So for every step of my 55m hike I'll have an abandoned child holding my hand, soothing my blisters and urging me on.
It'd be terrific if you would support me too and give some small amount to the Mathieson Trust to ensure their work to bring opportunity to some of the most unfortunate kids on the planet can thrive.
Thank you xx
