Story

Updated on May 27th 2012 at 11:02 PM from the JustGiving API

4 weeks today......training had its ups and downs.....managed my best walk this week as well as my worst with grumbling hips. Nearly there and raised an amazing amount so far for a worthy charity.....so i'm very proud:-)

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and to all those who have donated already doubling my target within a month. I'm overwhelmed by everyone's support and so thankful to each and every one of you.

For those who know me, you'll know that I've been plagued with hip problems all my life. Born with hip dysplasia (clicky hips), I've had many operations throughout my life to rebuild my left hip again and again and again. I've had all the osteotomies there are to offer!! It eventually got to the stage 2 years ago that my left hip was no more literally and I needed an urgent Total Hip Replacement. I was given a shiny new one on 20th April 2010 only to start recovering from that when my right hip finally packed in having put up with it's partner's problems for its whole life! So on 20th April 2011, I was given a shiny new one on that side too just to keep the left one company:-) Having finally been discharged from hospital and physio after the hardest 2 years of my life, I thought I'd set myself a challenge by walking the 10K Walk for Scotland on 24th June 2012 @ Holyrood in Edinburgh while raising money for a charity very close to my heart (& hips)......Joint Action, who support the research & development into Joint disorders, treatments and techniques such as Total Hip Replacements which improve the quality of life for millions of people each year, me being one of them.

So please support me on the biggest challenge of my life, (it's only taken me 37 years to get here!). Please dig deep and donate now. One day you may need a Joint Replacement so please show your support to the orthopaedic charity that funds this research.
