My story

Just Giving donation page for The Motley Crew, raising money for BERTIE!

After watching last years Great London River Race, one of the team decided it would be a great idea to put together a crew and row in the 2009 event on 5th September.

I have had diabetes for 20 years and through good nutrition and a healthy(ish) lifestyle I am lucky in that my diabetes is well controlled and does not stop me from doing what I want to do. I am currently visiting my local hospital who are running a scheme which trains diabetics to count their food and regulate insulin intake to help maintain a balanced blood sugar level. There are many diabetics who are far less fortunate than myself but with a little guidance their lives could improve to give them the flexibility and freedom that non-diabetics take for granted. Hopefully we can all make a difference to those less fortunate.
