Thanks so much for visiting this JustGiving page set up by Andrew (Doggy) Doig and Gary Barnett.

We have decided to both run in the Coastal Trail Series to raise money for the Child Welfare Scheme in Nepal.

Five runs done, how many to go?

Last year, we ran half-marathons in Dorset, Portland, South Devon, Exmoor and Cornwall. There have great amounts of generous donations so far. BUT! The target of £4,000 for Child Welfare Scheme has still not quite been reached. Andrew is going to keep running until the total is raised.

The courses are all on beautiful coastal paths, but involve just as much hard work as you'd imagine any narrow cliff top path to be.  Please give generously, for our efforts, but more importantly for a great charity that works incredibly hard to make an improvement in the lives of thousands of children.

For more information about the races and the charity, click 'read more' below. Thank you for supporting us.

The Coastal Trail Series

These are a set of 7 off-road runs that take place on some of the most beautiful (and hilly!) coastal areas of the south west of England. If you want to get an idea of what this will involve, visit their website.

The runs so far:

Why Child Welfare Scheme?

Both Gary and Andrew have a long association with Child Welfare Scheme. Gary lived in Nepal for many years and was involved with CWS from its very earliest days. He co-ordinated the construction of 11 day-care health centres and the JYOTI vocational training centre. Andrew visited Nepal in 1998, met Gary and other people working for the charity, and quickly realised that he would like to help by raising funds.

For more information on the Child Welfare Scheme, visit their website here.

Why Nepal?

Nepal is the least developed country in Asia, with years of conflict worsening the poverty.

Out of every 100 children in Nepal:
42 live below the poverty line
48 will be malnourished
42 will be involved in child labour
39 will not complete primary education
7 will die before their 5th birthday

Please sponsor us to help support these children, and give as generously as you can.

Every penny you donate will go directly to CWS.

How your donation could help:

£5 could help educate a child, by providing them with school books for 1 year

£10 could provide medical help for a child living in a remote mountain community

£25 could prevent health problems and accidents associated with traditional stoves, by building an improved cooking stove for a family in Nepal

£40 could provide protection and safety for a girl at high risk of abuse, by paying for an emergency home for a month

£50 could mean a street child no longer has to go hungry, by buying them a meal every day for a year

£100 could give a disadvantaged young person a new start in life, by paying for a month’s vocational training.

£250 could help treat patients and save lives, by paying the salary of a doctor for a whole month.

We’ll be posting updates on our runs here, so please come back and visit our page again soon!  Thank you so much for your support!
