Pennies Put Pounds into Sunday Fundraising   Pennies Day Nurseries are supporting their Operations Director Dominic Scotton in the 70.3 UK Ironman Triathlon on Sunday 19 June by matching any donation made to his Just Giving page between 7-00 and 3-00 on 19 June, the time when the event is in progress. My thanks go to everyone who has helped and sponsored me so far, my wish is that more people help and sponsor me, because this is a long-term project to help my son, and many others like him.       The 14th August 2007 should have been the best day of my life. It was the worst day of my life, when mistakes were made during the birth of my son William. He was born with severe brain damage and given 48 hours to live. He battled through, with drips, needles and monitors on him, our family got through the next few weeks, living day by day, as William fought to survive and become stronger. His will to live was inspiring but tests revealed he had cerebral palsy, epilepsy and would also never see. William will never walk, never talk and never have a normal life.   But he is still my son, he gives me love with a smile and shows his character through the fighting spirit that has kept him alive.   So I would like to give a little back to the people who helped us get William to a place we never thought possible. In particular; the National Institute of Conductive Education (NIoCE). They help children with cerebral palsy to overcome their difficulties, through improved movement.   William is approaching his fourth birthday, with the help of NIoCE and all amazing people in his life he has made incredible progress. His family celebrate his achievements and share his happiness. In our darkest days we didn’t think this would ever be possible.       "So what am I doing???" you may ask:    Basically, I’m taking on a steady stream of sponsored physical challenges. The next of which is the 70.3 UK Ironman Triathlon, comprising: 1.2 mile swim/56 mile bike ride/ 13.1 half marathon (all within 9.5 hours).      Note: Pennies Day Nurseries will match any donation made via Just Giving during the triathlon (i.e. from 7-00 – 3-00 on 19 June)     Already completed   1. The Paddock wood Half Marathon 13.1 miles -March 2010   Completed in 2 hours 16 min!     2. the Sevenoaks triathlon 400m swim 15mile ride and 5 mile run April      3. The London Marathon 26.2 miles-April 2010     4. The mini marsh man triathlon   May 2011   700M Swim- 20K Bike- 6K Run     If William can manage to survive past the 48 hours originally predicted, then this is the least I can do to help him, and others like him. It is my way of trying to give a little something back.     Please dig deep, and give what you can and thank you.
