Neuroblastoma Alliance - Oscar Knox Appeal · 31 December 2013 ·

Solving Kids’ Cancer UK helps families affected by neuroblastoma with tailored support and information, funds ground-breaking research, and campaigns for access to safer, more effective treatments.

Story

We are trying to raise money to support Oscar by abseiling from the top of the Europa Hotel in Belfast!

Oscar has been fighting neuroblastoma, a very aggressive cancer that affects babies and little kids, since shortly after his 3rd birthday. His best chance of beating this frighteningly aggressive cancer lies in either America or Germany, where his potentially life-saving treatment could cost as much as £250,000 - which is why we need your help.

On Saturday 8th September, along with other friends and family of Oscar, I will abseiling from the top of the Europa Hotel. I am slightly apprehensive about it - the thought of going over the edge with nothing but a thin rope holding me up is filling me with dread! Any donation to Oscar's Appeal is very much appreciated. Thank you. Donald

Oscar is fighting stage 4 neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. Oscar needs immunotherapy treatment to help stimulate his immune system, so that Oscar's own body should be able to recognise and attack the neuroblastoma if it was to return. This is always a worry with this deadly disease, where the relapse rates are high. Oscar’s parents Stephen and Leona said, “Oscar is such a positive happy wee lad, he is always smiling and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. Despite what he is going though he always has a huge big smile on his face. The treatment abroad that Oscar needs costs as much as £250,000. We ask everyone to please do whatever they can to help give our son the chance of life, and ensure we get him the treatment he desperately needs.
