<p><span style="color: #000080; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 14px;"> <!--StartFragment--> </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="color: #000090; font-family: Arial; font-size: x-large;"><span style="font-size: 19px;"> <!--StartFragment--> </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000080;" lang="EN-US">Hello!</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 15px; color: #000080;">In late September I&rsquo;m taking on the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>As part of the climb, I&rsquo;ve decided to raise funds for Loldia School Fund, which supports Loldia Primary School, located near the shores of Lake Naivasha in central Kenya. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 15px; color: #000080;">Loldia School fund was set up to improve the facilities at the school and help provide a standard of education that would enable the children to better their circumstances and find a way out of the poverty that exists in this area of Kenya.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="color: #000080;"><span style="font-size: 15px;">&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">Much has happened at the school since the fund&nbsp;began in 2001. </span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">There are now approximately 1600 children between the ages of 6 and 17 attending Loldia Primary School -&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">t</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">he numbers at the school have doubled in the past four years. 8 former students are in full-time university and 5 returning scholars are working as teaching assistants.&nbsp;<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp;</span></span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="color: #000080;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 15px;">The Fund also supports a number of teaching staff and is dedicated to providing secondary scholarships, giving some children the chance to continue their education.</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 15px; color: #000080;">The school is proud of its talented and ambitious children but the few resources from the government are completely inadequate to run an effective educational institution.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>Secondary school education is fee paying and, in Kenyan terms, very expensive &ndash;more than the average annual family income.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 15px; color: #000080;">The Fund works towards addressing these&nbsp;problems through fund-raising and sponsors for the pupils.
