Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may know I have been away in Scotland for the last couple of months as my Mum was in hospital very ill. After many weeks of hospital care I took my Mum home on 12th February 2011 as she couldn't bare to be in hospital any longer. Sadly only 4 days later it became apparent that there was no way my Mum could end her days at home as she was in so much pain. Thanks to a wonderful family doctor and an invaluable District Nurse my Mum was offered care within St Vincents Hospice and was admitted on February 16th 2011. St Vincents Hospice not only cared for my Mum and controlled her pain but they also created an environment which allowed me to stay with my Mum during her last days. The staff at St Vincents were amazing from start to end, the care my Mum received was second to none and allowed her to keep her dignity until her last breath. Sadly my Mum passed away only 12 days later on 28th February 2011 but thanks to St Vincents I was able to be at my Mum's side the whole time. My Mums biggest fear during the last 3 months was dying in hospital alone but because of the environment created at St Vincents Hospice my Mum passed away peacefully in a homely atmosphere with her family around her. St Vincents Hospice couldn't exist without charity donations and I can honestly say I have never come across a more well deserved charity and I hope to raise some funds for them while running The Virgin London Marathon 2011. It seems such an insignificant attempt to show my gratitude and thanks to them.
