Story
On Thursday 8th December, Hugh Ward and myself will aim to be the soundest men to sweat on a rower for Ireland since Irish Olympians Paul & Gary O'Donovan won Silver in Rio. And by sweating for Ireland, we mean the Irish Cancer Society, whose daily efforts in the fight against cancel make us proud to be Irish.
We're aiming to complete an endurance row against the clock and finish a gruelling 6.5km in under 30mins. Putting that into perspective, the O'Donovan's Silver Medal winning time of 6mins 31secs was for just 2km (and there was 2 of them in the boat!) but we're looking to broadly match their Olympic standard sprint pace for almost 4-times the distance. We know, it's a HUGE ask - but cometh the hour, cometh the men!
After we finish that, we're putting our tank-tops on and doing an endurance strength workout to complete a combined 1000-reps of sit ups, burpees and squats, again in under 30mins.
Finally, it's off with the tank tops and on with the runners as we hit the streets for a 5km run inside 30mins to close the challenge out! Phew - we're exhausted even thinking about it!
So we're asking all our friends & colleagues to dig deep and donate. Our target is raise €1,000 on the rowers, €1,000 for the HIIT Strength Challenge and €500 for the run, totalling to €2,500. Every penny we raise goes to this amazing charity.
