On 6 September 2009 I will be running the Adidas Women's Challenge for the fifth time. I will be joined by Emma (my daughter with child) Amelia (my grandaughter) Anne Marie and Maggie (my sisters) Katie (my niece) along with 20 other lady friends who are just wonderful to support us yet again.
As always all money raised will go via FIGHT FOR SIGHT to Prof Miguel Seabra and his team for research only into CHOROIDEREMIA a rare eye condition fhat my darling Dad, nephew Sam and now my grandson Tommy suffer from.
Since we first raised funds in 2005 we have sent £130,000.00 to be used for the research and now things are really moving forward, their recent experiments have been an amazing success. These proceedures have now been approved by the EU and will be taken to the government in October this year, If they are passed then clinical trials would begin as early as March 2010.
Prof Seabra said 'This has been partly due to our fundraising efforts that this has happened so quickly'. We as a family are extremely positive about Tommy's future in fact there is light as the end of Tommy's tunnel and hopefully he will be out of the tunnel in the next 3 - 5 years.
Without the support, kindness and generousity of our family, friends and work colleagues this would never have been possible to achieve.
I love you all and thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
