Well, I made it, and even beat my 3 hour target time!! No polar bears or crevasse accidents and the weather conditions were good throughout the run. The scenery was absolutely stunning and it was quite emotional running on the ice cap knowing that the ice beneath my feet was over a mile thick!! Thank you so much for all your generous donations and words of encouragement - it really helped to keep me going!

Well, after completing a half marathon last year in a South African game reserve, and managing to avoid the unwanted attention of a herd of angry elephants, my next challenge takes me to a country where elephants have never caused a problem - Greenland! The Polar Circle half marathon, 'the coolest race on earth', is partly run on the slippery polar ice cap itself, with the remainder on snow-covered gravel tracks, and on a good day temperatures can soar to -10 deg C. It should be a lot of fun - did somebody mention polar bears??

The RAF Association does not receive any direct Government funding and therefore relies on the generosity of the public and the continued support from its members, donors and the Branch network in generating funds to provide the level of welfare and care that is so rightly deserved by the RAF Family and their dependants in need.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please spare a few moments (and whatever you can afford) to give the RAF family of the past, present and future the support they truly deserve.
