As you will know, my wife Jane passed away suddenly on February 9th, 2010. She was my entire world. I cannot describe the devastation that this has brought to my life and to the lives of all those who knew Jane.
Jane and I lived for just over a year in New York City. We made some very close friends in the city who were very dear to us and to me now. The city was a special place to both Jane and I and its a place that holds many memories for me of times spent with Jane.
I've run a number of marathons in the past. Last year I completed the NYC marathon and I maintained that it would be my last marathon - a view that was strengthened when I tore ligaments in my right ankle in December of last year. However, subsequent events have changed my view. No-one should suffer what I have been through this year. If by raising funds for The Cardiomyopathy Association I can help just one person to avoid my experience then all of the training, all of the effort, and all of the pain will have been worth it.

Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle. Jane's cardiomyopathy was being managed, but events have shown what can happen suddenly and without warning as a result of this condition. The Cardiomyopathy Association provides information and support to affected families. They provide funding for clinical care, including nurse specialists. The organisation receives no government funding, instead it relies totally on donations and fundraising.
I would be really grateful if you could help raise as much as we can for The Cardiomyopathy Association. They do some great work - lets do all that we can in Jane's memory to assist them.
