I am raising money for The Scout Association's Solidarity Project for the World Scout Jamboree in 2011. This will allow Scouts from poorer countries to have the opportunity to be part of a major world scouting event.
I have had the opportunity to be involved in some great international scouting events and now in my 50th year I have the opportunity, through being a participant in The Virgin London Marathon 2010, to help The Scout Association raise money so that Scouts who would not normally get the chance to go to the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden in 2011 will get that chance.
I hope you will join me in the support of these Scouts and I thank you for any donation that you are kind enough to give.

update 21st April
Well I have got my trainers on for the first time in a week. I had picked up a foot injury. Not too worried as I won't get any fitter now with only 4 sleeps to go. Starting to get both nervous and excited about the Marathon. I am heading down to London, by train, on Friday and I am sure that I will start to soak up the atmosphere as soon as I get to King's Cross.
update 27th April
I have completed the marathon in 5 hours 31 minutes. That was slightly slower than planned but my recurring foot injury hit me at 10 miles so there was a bit more walking than I had hoped for.
It was an absolutely tremendous day and the crowd and atmosphere really did help me get round. Also knowing that there was so many people supporting me with their donations was a great boost.
