Loch Ness #RunForAlex

Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running 2017 · 24 September 2017 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you will know I'm running the Loch Ness Marathon on 24th September. My 8th Marathon, I still can't believe it when I say that!
I'm running in memory of Alex, the son of my good friend Rebecca. I met Alex a couple of times, at the Bath Half marathon and while I was cat sitting in Bath. They noticed from my running posts that I was nearby and we met for a coffee. Alex died at the age of 13 on the 23rd December last year of an aggressive brain cancer. I remember seeing the message and crying. I had my daughter with me for Christmas and we were staying with my sister and her family....I needed too run .... my daughter, nephew and niece all wanted to run with me. Joined by my brother in law, we all #RanForAlex.
Alex had been given months to live, our little Facebook group of friends had been informed, and Alex was told to make a bucket list. He did some amazing things and he personally raised so much money by going to various events for the charity. His mum, her partner Steve and his younger brother and sister have been amazing. I'm proud to be running the Loch Ness Marathon with Steve (who happens to be running 12 marathons in 12 months) and Rebecca who's doing the half. We will be joined by at least one other running friend from our group Andrew.
While Alex was alive our group posted #RunForAlex on each of our runs so that he could see we were running for him. That's why you see #RunForAlex on lots of my posts.
