Through working with stroke survivors I have seen firsthand the positive impact the Stroke Association makes: public health campaigns such as FAST; communication support for those with post-stroke speech problems; signposting to local support networks; providing evidenced-based information, promoting personalised goal-setting and recovery; recognising and assisting carers; funding research into effective stroke treatments; and more. I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to take part in the legendary Marathon des Sables 25 March - 4 April 2022. I will be running 250km through the Sahara desert over the course of a week, dealing with blistering heat, managing water supplies, carrying all of my equipment. This is a challenge unlike any I have previously encountered and I can’t wait! I hope to push my limits and make new friends, but most importantly I want to raise funds for the Stroke Association who provide such a valuable service to my patients.

Please give what you can. If I raise £4 for every km of the race I will meet my target of £1000.

Look out for information coming soon on how to support me during the race: there’s no wifi or phone signal in the desert but the race organisers will distribute email messages to participants so I’ll share details of how to do this nearer the time.
