Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page ‘Drew’s barmy Bike Ride’!

Yes, it’s a mad idea and there’s a good chance I’ll fail to finish!  But I’ll never know unless I try!

In September this year I plan to cycle, with what feels like several tonnes of camping equipment, solo and unsupported from Lands End to John O’Groats.

I’ve probably done too little training and packed far too much stuff for the hills (Dartmoor, Lake District, and the Scottish Highlands), so I’m going to need all the motivation I can get.

Raising money for the fantastic charity the ‘Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation’ will certainly help me struggle up the hills when my body is almost completely depleted of fuel.  So please dig deep and donate now.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Foundation

Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation is a national children’s charity that raises money for sick children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK to improve their quality of life. Since our beginnings in 2003 we have helped 48 hospitals and hospices and given out grants totalling over £1 million!

We believe every child has the right to a fun, carefree, happy childhood; yet everyday over 26,000 children are treated in hospitals and hospices in the UK.

Hospitals can be frightening enough if you’re an adult, but for a child it can seem like another world; strange rooms, needles, tubes, medicine and funny smells can all combine to make a stay in hospital uncomfortable.

To ensure that whilst in hospital and hospice care, children can still play, socialise and recuperate from treatment in a child friendly environment the Foundation funds an innovative range of projects which are not funded directly by the NHS, such as:

·                    Arts, music play and entertainment programmes to stimulate young minds and divert attention away from illness.

·                    Providing welcoming and accessible environments and surroundings, designed specifically for children in a fun and engaging way.

·                    Funding Education and Information Programmes to educate young people and recognising the importance of self help and health related issues.

·                    Helping to fund the acquisition of medical facilities, which can help to improve diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions and illnesses in children.

·                    Sustaining family relationships helping to keep families together during emotionally difficult times.

·                    Helping to meet the cost of care in a children’s hospice where children and their families are cared for during good days, difficult days and last days.

·                    Supporting children with physical and emotional difficulties empowering and increasing confidence.
