Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Cath's Dad passed away after a prolonged battle with Guillian-Barre Syndrome.  He was in intensive care for a year and 2 months.  Pete fought the virus gallantly, but unfortunately the repeated infections (symptomatic of long term ventilation) took it's toll.  Pete passed away on the 3rd May 2011 with Cath, her Mom and sister singing to him.

When we set up this page to raise funds for research, Pete was still alive, fighting and communicating.  It has been a long journey for Cath's family, but we are comforted that Pete is no longer suffering.

Whilst the majority of Guillian-Barre suffers survive the virus, many patients continue to suffer side effects.  More research is needed to be done on this debilitating virus.

Our 1st Ironman in now in memory of Pete and every penny will go towards the Guillian-Barre Charities in the UK and South Africa.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Well done for completing the Ironman! Your dad would be very proud of you. Taz & Rich Donation by Tarryn Van Wijk on 16/11/11
