Story

It's over! No more training, no more marathon! You have no idea how happy we are. We both finished, and are both feeling the after effects! Duncan came in at 3hrs 23mins, and Celia, defying injuries that have severely hampered her training and even put her participation in doubt, finished in 4hrs 34mins. We're not looking forward to tomorrow morning at all. Thank you so much to you all for sponsoring us - this page will be open for another couple of months in case any kind souls feel like a sly post-hoc donation...

Thank you all so much!! We could not be more grateful for all this support! Thank you very much to everyone who has donated:) And if you are one of Webster (or dad as we call him:p)'s friends, we send you an extra heartfelt thank you:)

We're in the final week now, the training is over and the sun is out! Blisters and niggles aside, we're both feeling ok. Thank you SO much for all your donations so far, we're amazed at how much we've been able to raise thanks to your generosity.

A bit of background:

As some of you will know, Duncan was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in early 2010. He had seven months' worth of chemotherapy, which fortunately resulted in him being declared in complete remission in September 2010, and recently celebrated a year of being well again.

This is just one cancer-related story, fortunately with a happy ending.  We both have many friends whose familes have been as directly affected by cancer as ours and we know that sadly this is just the tip of the iceberg.

In that spirit we've decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK, an organisation that is instrumental in finding cures for various types of cancer, by running the Brighton Marathon in April 2012.

We can't tell you how much we'd appreciate any help that anyone can give in our quest to raise £5500 for this amazing charity. Research into cancer saved Duncan's life and has saved the lives of so many others and we'd love it to continue so even more lives can be saved.

It will be our first marathon, and Duncan (being Duncan) is going to try to break 3hrs 15mins...which may be ambitious but fingers crossed! Celia (not being a testosterone-filled male) isn't being quite as competitive and will be happy if she crosses the finish line with both legs still attached.

Thanks again to anyone who can spare any money to sponsor us, we really really appreciate it!
