To all my lovely sponsors! I finished the race in 44 hours 26 mins. It was a tough year given the continuous rain from Saturday afternoon! Thanks for all your support Dunc xx

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 2nd June I am taking part in Britain's longest, toughest, non-stop running race. The Grand Union Canal Race (GUCR) is run from the centre of Birmingham to the centre of London along the Grand Union Canal. Competitors are required to complete the 145 mile distance within the time limit of 45 hours.

Ronald McDonald Houses are a ‘home away from home’ for families with children in hospital, somewhere free to stay for as long as they need to.

Many families travel miles from home so that their child can receive expert medical care from specialist children’s hospitals across the UK. Often, children have to remain in hospital for months at a time, so for the families, staying close to their child can be a struggle. Without a local Ronald McDonald House, many parents have to sleep on a chair by their child’s bed, on a pull down bed if this is available, or pay vast sums of money for hotel accommodation.

Ronald McDonald House Brighton is located opposite the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. The original House opened its doors to families in 2000, and then relocated in 2007 to a new site. The House has eight en-suite bedrooms, lounge, dining area, kitchen, laundry and a small patio garden. Ronald McDonald House Charities invested £600,000 in the relocation, and a further £300,000 to open a further 10 en-suite bedrooms on the top floor of the children’s hospital.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
