Around the world we frequently hear terrible stories of people being unfairly dealt with through inadequate legal and penal systems.  All too often they are being prosecuted and punished for petty crimes and crimes of desperation.  How much more tragic when these people are young children, processed and punished through systems designed for adults for crimes they barely understand.

UNICEF works to intervene on behalf of children caught up in these systems, children at risk of abuse, who need protection and a way out of environments that lead to confrontation with the law.

In October (2015) I will be undertaking a trek in the Simien Mountains of Ethiopia, culminating an ascent of Mount Bwahit (4,450 m).  The hike will be a tough and challenng one with the aim being to raise awareness and much needed funds for the great work UNICEF does in support of these children.  Please support my fundraising efforts here and help make a difference to young lives.
