Many thanks to everyone that has donated, we almost doubled our target for 2011...Through offline donations we have raised a total of £1,226.00, a huge thank you to all those that paid cash and cheques. A special thank you to Legal and General who doubled the amount that George has raised and added £750.00 to our total. And to Places for People who added 250.00 to Richards total.
Update 3rd July 2011......We did it!!!!.............
We cycled, we walked up and down a mountain we cycled some more we rowed across a lake and we cycled some more. In a time of 9 hours and 20 minutes (ok we did set a target of 7 hours, perhaps that was a little over ambitious), some tired limbs, a few aches and pains and a few pounds lost but it was all worth it.
Thanks to everyone that sponsored us, we easily reached our target of 2,000 pounds for a great charity.
We will be going back in 2012,
Andy, George, Dave, Richard and Colin
Thanks for taking the time to visit the East Grinstead Ancient Gladiators JustGiving page.
We are five friends who have known each other for over 20 years.
Over the years we have played and been involved in many sports, we have been very lucky and been able to compete without any serious injuries. We need a challenge and we thought (over a pint or two) what better motivation than to do something for charity.
On the 2nd July 2011 Andy, Dave, George and Richard are undertaking the Snowdonia Charity Challenge in support of the REGAIN charity. This involves a 40 mile cycle, climbing Snowdon and Canoeing Lake Gwynant (basically a triathlon without any swimming) all on the same day.
The money we raise will support the work that REGAIN - the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the independence of men and women who have become tetraplegic as a result of a sports injury. The charity provides direct help with the purchase of equipment like wheelchairs, voice activated computers and hand cycles.
We are aiming to raise 2,000 pounds and we hope that this will be the start of a regular yearly challenge for us all.
The final member of our team is our logistics manager Colin (Elvis) Farrant, Colin won’t be taking part in the day but has agreed to go to the top of Snowdon by Train and cheer us on (probably with a pint in his hand).
Our aim is to finish in a time of around 7 hours and we will be taking the training seriously,
This is for a great cause so please to all our friends, work colleagues and family dig deep and donate now.
Andy, Dave, George, Richard and Colin
