Story

EGP is a student run charity at Edinburgh University, supporting sustainable development projects across Africa and Asia.

This year our team of eight will be heading to Sri Lanka  to build a pre-school and well in Ampalanthurai in the Eastern region. This project was proposed to EGP by the community as something it is in dire need of, as they currently do not have anywhere to meet. This building will also be used as a community centre in the evening to teach trades such as weaving.

We are aiming to raise £7,700 for our project.

As the propsal was designed by the residents of the village, this project has a simple aim: to assist with the community's own goals for their own community. As a result, the money raised really does go directly to the issue at hand. The team's flights and vaccinations for instance, are not included in the target stated.
