Story

I would like to mark the 1st Anniversary of Tsunami Disaster with my warmest wishes to the survivors. I pray for their happiness and peace admiring their courage and hard work over the past year. I shall keep supporting them till they find hope and peace. May God Bless them all.

After the massive Tsunami disaster, the survivors had very little time for bereavement but they had to start clearing the wave's debris to rebuild livelihoods. Across the Tsunami affected region, only 6% of devris has been taken away. 29 million cubic metres of waste, enough to fill Wembley Stadium 25 times remain standing. The survivors wake up to see the pyramid of debris every morning over the past year. Physical exhaustion and mental scars deepened. Long-term psychological and social support is high agenda as peple are under the stress, fear and anxiety.

Fukushima Nuclear Disaster - 11,000 Fukushima town residents and nearly 80,000 peolpe from surrounding area are unable to return home or business due to high radiation across the region. 930 square miles of land around the nuclear plant may need decontaminated, equal size of 'Luxemburg'.

Heartbreaking 365 days have slowly passed, now we have very little media coverage about it. It seems to have been forgotten from the world. Loads of problems remain unsolved. We have just started to see a small sign of recovery, which may take several decades to rebuild the country. Long-term support is essential. We shall raise the awareness and keep supporting one of the most beautiful nation and people. on 11th March 2012 - Keiko Hirano

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 21st October 2011 - Fund Raised by Berkhampstead School Japan Culture Day. Many thanks to all the Year 1 & 2 children, teachers and volunteers who worked extremely hard to make the event so successful. Special thanks for Japanese ladies volunteers who contributed their time and energy to make the event fun and invaluable.

Japan Tsunami Appeal: Saturday 26th March 2011

http://goo.gl/uctmE http://goo.gl/7UpfJ

A HUGE thank you to everyone who made it to the event on Saturday!
