So why the big ride out and why this charity?

Sustainable and Cultural Tourism has a huge part to play within the global travel industry and my chosen charity "Geography Charities UCST" is an amazing concept in a small village in Tanzania called Buigiri.

Since the mid 80's a personal friend of mine has helped to support "Village Aid" which is a school based charity working to create income and employment in the village through a project that will eventually lead to a small guest house (approx 4 rooms) being constructed to European standards with running hot and cold water.

Visitor numbers can then be increased to allow the village to employ from within its own community, trained safari guides and open up other opportunities for tourism related work. Members of the village are training in Wild Life Management.

Buigiri has a Primary School, a secondary school and also a Blind School with around 100 pupils.

There is also a great need for Malaria nets because a large number of the villagers suffer from blindness and the village has a Blind Rehabilitation Centre. The centre has been created from previous donations to Village Aid and houses approx 10 families.

Buigiri Village is a fantastic experience. The people are very friendly and the landscape is beautiful.

If I can raise enough money - ONLY £3,000 (£7k is needed) - this will go a huge way to allow the villagers to be able to build a small guest house to European standards which will be the corner stone on the road to a successful Cultural and Sustainable Tourism project.

Thank you for reading this and thank you for making a donation. Every little wil help. Who knows...£7k may happen, after all my beloved Blackpool FC reached the Premiership..!!
