Story

At a wedding in November 2010, a number of Earlswood Cricket Club players were discussing how to raise funds for a much-needed upgrade to the clubhouse at Watery Lane. The wives of said players, after admiring the slim physique of the groom, rather ungraciously suggested that a sponsored slim should be undertaken!

The players took up the challenge and for the last three months have been shedding pounds for the cause which includes a 25% donation to Breast Cancer Awareness a charity which is close to the hearts of a number of the players.

The final weigh in was held last Monday, 28th February and the sight of grown men in their underpants, whilst still not likely to make the front page of GQ, was certainly a healthier image than three months previously!

The weight losses in summary were as follows with pounds lost hidden at times to protect modesty!!

- David Flett, lost 16lbs, 9%
- Neil Thorne, lost 26lbs, 13%
- Steve Shale, lost 6%
- Mick Bussey, lost 12lbs, 6%

One or two of the wives have also been losing weight and it would be great to give them some support too.

- Claire Shale, lost 5% since Christmas
- Lindsey Thorne, lost 6% since Christmas
- Sue Mansell

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Earlswood Cricket Club and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the club. 25% of everything donated will also be passed on to Breast Cancer Awareness.

So, please dig deep and donate.
