Run to the Beat 2011 · 25 September 2011 ·

CARE International is a humanitarian organisation leading the fight to end poverty in the world’s most challenging situations. Women and girls are at the centre of our work, because we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities.

Story

Hey everyone,

Thanks for visiting the page. 2011 has been the year of the excercise burn. I've done a 10K, a sprint triathlon, cycled to Brighton, taken up climbing, and realised that I quite enjoy running.

I've decided a good way to finish off the year is to run a half marathon for Care International, who are an international development organisation I've supported since I got accosted by a charity mugger on my first day at university. Having worked in international development I'm aware that no NGO is perfect, but Care International does good work with a mix of immediate emergency relief and long term development work.

The money you are going to donate for my participation in the Run to the Beat half marathon in September is helping Care International respond and support people affected by the drought currently gripping East Africa. Even small amounts of money can make a big difference – so thank you very much.

For more information on Care International you can visit: www.careinternational.org.uk
