Thales Route 47 Celtic Trail Cycle Event · 1 July 2016 to 3 July 2016 ·

Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

Dear Friends

Along with some Thales colleagues and friends I will be cycling the 365km from Aberporth, where we conduct flight trials, to Weybridge, our UK HQ. Our target is to complete the journey in 3 days, through the hills of Wales (I'm not really built for hill climbs), through the west country (I like cider) and through the North Downs to Weybridge.

Why am I doing this, because in the UK

  • Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
  • Over 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that's 130 men every day.
  • Every hour one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 10,800 men every year.
  • 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime.
  • Over 330,000 men are living with and after prostate cancer.
Thank you for your support and please remember to tick the "Gift Aid" box when making your donation. All donations made go directly to Prostate Cancer UK.
