<p><strong>Rough sleeping is a matter of life and death. </strong>The average life expectancy of someone sleeping on the streets is just 42.</p> <p>To help rough sleepers in Edinburgh, Bethany operates a nightly homeless shelter over the winter. The "Care Shelter" provides rough sleepers with a hot meal, a bed for the night, breakfast, a listening ear and advice on housing and addiction support.</p> <p>Last year, more than 757 people received help at the Edinburgh Care Shelter.
