OUR VISION - To Pass on the 'Gift of Hope' to 100 needy children
Every £228 raised will help a child or young person's education to be sponsored for a year through Soteria Trust.
SUCCESS Longmynd Hike 2011 - Our team of 4 set off on one of the hottest October days on record. Unfortunately one of the ladies in our team succumbed to the heat. We had only covered 25 miles in 12 hours by 1am. In an amazing turnaround overnight we made up the time and finished in 21 hours and 45 minutes.
The money raised will sponsor Mary and Emmanuel to attend Prospect School for another year. Thank You!
The money raised in Oct 2010 has been used to sponsor Mary & Emmanual for another year and these funds are now sponsoring Nifemi to go to Prospect School as well.
HIKE RAISED £664 - On 2-3 October 2010 Alan & his friend Les Sanders walked 50 Miles Non-stop over 24 hours for charity (actual time completed 22h1m). They were competing in the Longmynd Hike, an organised event over the rugged countryside of South Shropshire and the Welsh Marshes, with about 8,000 feet of climb, covering eight summits.
Thanks for supporting them on this mammoth effort (every pound will make a difference) and at the same time you will be helping very needy children to have a better future.

On 26th Feb 2010, George, our 11 old Spaniel walked over 40km across the Akamas peninsula in Cyprus to raise awareness and money for our nominated charity, Soteria Trust which sponsors very vulnerable children in Africa to go to school.
Thanks to the money raised by that we are able to help sponsor Emmanuel to go to Prospect School in Nigeria for a year. We have since also raised enough money to help sponsor Mary to go to school and Samuel to do a diploma - which he has now completed.
Background
In October 2006 Alan & I visited Prospect School in Nigeria, Africa. We were in the capable hands of Andy Economides from Soteria Trust in Chichester (reg 1040766) who has 15 years experience of travelling to Nigeria.
After a long overnight flight we were driven for 2 hours along pot-holed and crumbling roads to Ibadan, a city of 7 million people. Along the way we were stopped several times by armed guards checking the car. Having arrived at our basic accommodation, it was like we had arrived in a different world. There were armed gurads on every floor. What struck us was that we didn’t see many old people. One old man we did see was using just his arms to drag his withered body along a busy street. He was wearing only rags, but nobody stopped to help him. According to UNICEF the average life expectancy in Nigeria is only 47.
We accompanied Andy on many speaking engagements and were able to help out for the day at Prospect School and visit the site of the Soteria Business College. It was truly humbling to see the conditions that so many people live in. The poverty is overwhelming. The streets are lined with beggars. Disabled children sit in wheelbarrows placed by the roadside to beg. They have no life. They have no hope.
But the children of today are our hope for a better future – with education they can help change their communities – they just need a chance to fulfil their potential – and you can help to give them that chance…
Our aim is to help end the cycle of poverty that comes from lack of education. Education helps young people to make life choices for themselves and their families. The average life expectancy in Nigeria is only 47. It has a high rate of infant mortality. With your support and encouragement we can help a new generation of young people to help themselves and leave a legacy of hope. Thank you.
