Edward Hare is raising money for Young Lives vs Cancer
Story
Some people may say 3 times lucky but for me it's 7...... after several years of trying I have finally been given the opportunity to fulfill a lifetime dream of running the infamous London Marathon.
Now for the really important part; when cancer strikes young lives CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health.
I heard about Brandon Balaam and CLIC Sargent through my Daughters School and became aware of the fantastic, yet unseen, work they do. Brandon is 8 years old and just over 12 months ago he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. As you can imagine this news completely turned his and his families lives upside down. With a long road still ahead and just under 2 years of daily chemotherapy to go, they are receiving much needed support from CLIC who were quickly by their sides when they learnt of Brandon's diagnosis.
CLIC provide emotional, financial and clinical support to help families cope with cancer.
Without this support the journey that they find themselves on, would no doubt be much harder and feel, much longer.
When I spoke to Brandon's family about joining their team, they had this to say about CLIC and their experience
"The words 'cancer' and 'your son' is not a content of a sentence you want to hear. That's what we were told in a glass fronted room late on a Monday night in July 15. I could only think, at that point, that we were going to lose our son. Getting your head around this most devastating news takes a huge amount of energy and time. Rachel, our CLIC Sargent Social Worker, quickly found us and continues to support us. CLIC Sargent is a fantastic charity that support families, just like us, in numerous ways. For our family, it's meant we have someone to support us all as we try to cope with the important things in supporting our child through this life threatening battle"
I have joined Brandon's team to help raise money for a charity which is a crucial part of his and many other unfortunate families, lives.
We are very grateful for any donations no matter how big or how small.
