Story
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, and ranked as the 173rd in terms of GDP per capita. So...I aimed to run 173 laps of the Teddy Hall Quad dressed as a giant Teddy to raise money for Oxford Development Abroad's work there. On Sunday 3rd June, I completed 205 laps (an extra 32 laps as someone suggested my GDP figure was incorrect!).
This summer I am volunteering in Nepal for the charity in a six-week project. The charity works with remote and deprived villages there helping to sustainably improve education, construction and sanitation in one of the worlds poorest areas. Despite declining rates of urban poverty, rural poverty in Nepal is increasing and widespread. Poor families are often obliged to send their children to work rather than to school. We will be working in construction projects to try and break this cycle for example. The situation in rural Nepal is a desperately unfair contrast to the opportunities I have had in my life and I am determined to make whatever small difference I can.
I would really really appreciate any donation as these funds will go directly to the charity to provide materials for the projects I will be doing. All personal travel costs and expenses are covered by my own savings.
Thank you so much.
