My story

Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

If you doubt the reasoning of anyone willingly signing up to compete in the Marathon des Sables, a 157 mile extreme endurance event across the Sahara Desert, then I admit you have grounds to question mine. But think again, please, because in 2012, the really big challenge I face is before the run - raising £10,000 for Mencap.  Mencap is an extraordinary charity that focuses on valuing and supporting people with learning disabilities, also their families and others who care for them. It works tirelessly to help these people by changing laws, challenging prejudice and enabling them to live the lives they choose – but it needs funds.  These are difficult times I know, but I desperately need your help to hit this target for Mencap.  Please do give as generously as you can.

I shall be competing in a number of other events to raise funds for Mencap: the Reading Half Marathon in March 2012; Square Up in the City (a white collar charity boxing event); The Kingsclere Gumball Rally (an endurance event visiting 13 European countries in 6 days), taking in a bungee jump on the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland (at 220 metres, the second biggest in the world – remember the James Bond film, Goldeneye?); the London Triathlon; the Great South Run and finally, and probably most painfully, a full body waxing.

Mencap is such a worthwhile cause.  Do please help me to raise funds for them.   Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – JustGiving will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure that Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s a very efficient way to donate.  Thank you so much for your support.
