Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Myself, Stephen Lockett, Andy Fletcher, Simon Burchell, Charlotte Conway, Hannah Prouse, Phil Harvey, Jay Wheeler, Daniel Gibbons, Chris Dent, Matt Roberts & Philip Fowler will be taking on the Welsh 3000s challenge to raise some money for Edwards Trust a local Birmingham charity (http://www.edwardstrust.org.uk). Edwards trust’s services primarily are to help families where they have suffered a bereavement either the loss of a child or parent.

The challenge involves taking on all of the 15 peaks in Snowdonia National Park, over 3000 feet, in under 15 hours without using any form of transport. We will be undertaking this mammoth task on the 28 of July 2012.

Rather than take on the traditional South to North route, we will be doing this in reverse. In making this decision, the primary aim is to make it more fun by introducing three Grade 1 scrambles.

This will involve the North Ridge of Tryfan, Bristly Ridge up on to Glyder Fach and Grib Goch as the first part of the Snowdon Horseshoe.

Scrambling is basically the space between hill walking and rock climbing – whilst a good deal of fun - it will make the challenge a much more difficult prospect.

The Welsh 3000’s is widely regarded as one of the toughest mountain challenges in the UK and is normally undertaken over 2 or 3 days. The distance is approximately 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total.
