Sponsor a child in Africa! Help Edwin to stay on school! :-)
Edwin is in grade 11 of Mfuwe Secondary School and is 19 years old. Schools go up to grade 12, so its really important he does not drop out now. His mother died of pregnancy complications in 2005 and father was a fisherman and got taken by a crocodile last year (it sounds far fetched but its usual over there). His village is 25 miles (40 km) away from the school, so he lives in a shelter in a nearby village and works to get food by getting water, firewood etc.
He is trying to look after his younger brother at the same time. His Grandmother had borrowed money for his fees until now but is old and can't do it anymore. He has passed the necessary school tests, so he is eligible for sponsorship.
Our sponsorship of £90 will pay for his school fees, school bag, 10 exercise books, pens and a full school uniform including shoes.
£260 will pay for him to be in the boarding facilities. As his village is so far away, this would mean 3 meals a day every day of the week for 3 terms and would free his time up for extra studying.
An extra £70
will buy him a bike, so he doesn't need to walk 25 miles to get home.
Every little helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks, Timi
