The overall aim of Digartref is to alleviate homelessness on the island of Anglesey.
The general aims are to provide supported accommodation to young people on the island, to provide a resettlement service to assist the young people to maintain their own tenancies, to provide information and advice for potentially homeless people on the island, to work in partnership with other agencies to promote awareness of homelessness and promote initiatives to alleviate homelessness and tackle social inclusion.
I visited Digartref and met with some of the young people. They were working with pressure charts and learning about weather systems as part of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award which is offered whilst they are in the care of Digartref. I feel very passionate about this charity and I hope through our paddle you will help us support them by making a donation or sponsoring us.
Its objectives are to provide homeless and excluded people with life skills to enable them to move on successfully in achieving independence, to offer an individual support package that is appropriate to their needs including personal development, independent living skills, sign-posting to appropriate training, education or employment opportunities, and referral to other agencies as appropriate to the persons needs.
The company manages a Supported Accommodation Project for 12 young people of 16 - 25, a drop-in Day Centre, a Family Mediation Service, a Temporary Night shelter, a Floating Support service and a Nightstop UK scheme.
Digartref are currently working on creating a website and we will post details of this when available.
