My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 19th December 2011 my sister Joanne and her husband Ciaran were thrilled to announce the birth of their little boy Oran Ciaran Heaney.

Oran was born three months prematurely, but from the start he was a right little fighter!  However, Joanne and Ciaran's world was shattered when Oran suddenly and unexpectantly lost his fight on the 8th January this year. They lost a son, we lost a grandson, a nephew, a cousin and a wee buddy and our families will never be the same again!

Oran was with us for three weeks and has left a lasting footprint in both the Murphy and Heaney families. Whilst we wish he could have been with us forever, we are so grateful that we got to meet him.

Oran has achieved more in three weeks than some of us do in a lifetime!!! Help us to keep Oran's memory alive and join us in preventing this from happening other families.

So here's our plan; myself and two of my sisters Claire and Karen are embarking on a challenge.  The three of us are running the Bupa Manchester Great Run on the 20th May (10K).  As a family we have always done things together, and whilst there are 3 of us doing the run, the rest are doing their bit in supporting us! But now we are also asking our wider family circle, friends and colleagues to support us.  For those that have sponsored Claire or Karen already thanks a million, please don't feel obliged to sponsor me as well - it's all for the same cause.

Love Elaine

(and much appreciation, love and thanks from Joanne, Ciaran and the Murphy & Heaney families)
