Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing specialist, palliative care and support to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Our support begins from the moment someone is diagnosed, through to palliative care and ultimately end of life care.

Story

Elaine & I have just completed our Coast to Coast Walk and walked 192 miles Coast to Coast from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay in Yorkshire which we found very challenging although the good weather helped and Mike's navigational skills were invaluable especially when I lost my phone and Mike had to run down the mountain and back up to retrieve it.

Elaine climbed the mountains without any difficulty but was as slow as a snail coming down due to blisters and bad knees. I flew down the mountains but found it hard climbing them as I had to keep stopping to catch my breadth. We were trying to work a system where Elaine would walk up and I would walk down but failed so we both had to climb them all.

We crossed the bogs at 9 Standards without getting our feet wet but got our feet soaked crossing two bogs on the last day.

We really enjoyed our walk and hope we can meet our target to help St Luke's.

St Lukes hospice is a small independent hospice based in Cheshire providing care for those suffering with cancer, dementia and those suffering life threatening illnesses. The hospice need funds as it costs £6,500 per day to provide patient care and they currently have a shortfall and are busy fund raising.
