My story
On November 4 2012 Dave and I will be attempting to run all 26.2 miles of the New York marathon. In exchange for the pain we would like to raise as much money as possible for the Southern Area Hospice.
Unfortunately we all know someone who has been affected by cancer or terminal illness. The Southern Area Hospice helps make the final stages in patients' lives more comfortable and dignified, and offers continuing support to their families and carers.
My father passed away in the hospice in 2008 shortly after being diagnosed with cancer and the support and care they provided to everyone involved during this period was invaluable. They rely heavily on donations to continue providing their care to terminal patients.
We will also be running the marathon in memory of my wonderful Aunt Tish who lost her battle with cancer last summer and whose bravery inspired Dave and I immensely.
We would really appreciate if you sponsor anything you can. We’d like to thank you so much for your support, each donation will make a tangible difference to the hospice and help drag us round the final few miles in New York (or all 26.2 of them in my case – what can I say, a runner I’m not!!).

Southern Area Hospice Services provides invaluable support and care to people suffering from cancer and other terminal illnesses living within the Southern Health Board area. SAHS's aim is to provide the best quality of life for patients and their families. All services are provided free of charge and SAHS rely heavily on voluntary donations to continue providing our special care.
