Story
I'm limbering up to take part in the Bupa Great Manchester Run for an incredibly worthwhile charity that needs your support.
Usually my idea of exercise is rummaging for the TV remote when it falls down the side of the coach... but this Sunday, May 26, I'll be swapping watching Made in Chelsea re-runs for jogging around some of Manchester's most iconic landmarks, all in aid of Freedom from Torture.
This charity works with asylum seekers and refugees who come to Britain after escaping oppressive, violent regimes.
Their centre in Manchester offer medical support and physiotherapy to survivors - adults and children - who are living in chronic pain after enduring beatings, or being forced to sit or stand in contorted positions.
Volunteers and trained professionals also offer counselling and creative activities, to help them begin to deal with the mental scars of their ordeal.
There's also practical support to help refugees adjust to life in a new country and circumvent Britain's asylum seeker process - helping them find work, get an education and begin to rebuild their lives.
Freedom from Torture is a fantastic charity, dedicated to helping some of the world's most vulnerable people make a new life for themselves. Any donation, big or small, makes a huge difference.
Thanks, big hugs and see you at the finish line!
